Off to the Races is an independent guide to visiting Britain’s and Northern Ireland’s racecourses. Here’s how we research it, how we make money, and how to tell us if something is wrong.
Last reviewed: 4 October 2026
Who we are
An independent guide
Off to the Races is published by Does Your Duck Quack?. We aren’t connected to any racecourse, the Jockey Club, Arena Racing Company or the British Horseracing Authority, and no racecourse pays to appear in the guide or approves what we write.
How we research
Official sources first, and always dated
Official sources first
Prices, race times, enclosures, dress codes and accessibility come from each racecourse’s own website wherever possible, then from transport operators and official tourist boards. Where we use a ticket seller or a review site, we say so.
Every guide is dated
Each racecourse guide shows when its prices, dates and travel details were last checked. Racecourses change things, so always confirm on the booking page before you pay.
Honest about gaps
If a racecourse hasn’t published something, such as next year’s prices or race times, we say so rather than guess. Last year’s figures are labelled with their year.
Official information wins
On the day, follow your ticket, the racecourse’s notices and its staff. Every guide links to the official pages so you can check the details that matter most.
How we make money
Affiliate links
Some links on this site, such as hotel searches or ticket and hospitality partners, may earn us a small commission if you book, at no extra cost to you. Commission never decides what we recommend: we cover every racecourse and enclosure the same way, including free and budget options, and we don’t accept payment for coverage.
Spotted a mistake?
Tell us and we’ll fix it
Found something wrong, out of date or hard to use?
Email us at webmaster@offtotheraces.co.uk. Please tell us the page, what’s wrong and, if you can, where you found the correct information. We check every report against official sources and correct the guide as soon as we can.
You can also write to us at Does Your Duck Quack?, 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh, EH2 4AN.
For problems with a ticket, a refund or something that happened on a raceday, please contact the racecourse directly: each guide links to its official contact page.
Corrections
Recent corrections
We note significant corrections here. Minor wording and layout fixes are made without a separate note.
Goodwood
Corrected: Most hospitality follows the Richmond dress code; Sussex Roof Garden, Sussex Lounge Club and relaxed Sussex Boxes follow the Gordon guidance. Official source.
Haydock Park
Corrected: Enter from the A49 along the main racecourse drive; the Golborne/East entrance is also open. The current parking page says all parking is free and allocated first come, first served, with Blue Badge spaces closer to the entrances. Check your fixture instructions for any specific arrangements. Official source.
Haydock Park
Corrected: The current guidance welcomes comfortable clothes, including jeans and clean trainers, without an enclosure-specific formal outfit requirement. Avoid team kits; non-offensive fancy dress is allowed only in Grandstand & Paddock. Official source.
Doncaster
Corrected: Public raceday parking is in Car Park C; the current FAQ lists £5 in advance or £7 on the day. Car Park A is reserved for specified groups including hospitality guests and Blue Badge holders. Follow the yellow parking signs; the racecourse is on Leger Way, DN2 6BB. Official source.
Epsom Downs
Corrected: and advance arrangement is recommended to secure your preferred location. Official source.
Epsom Downs
Corrected: Team colours and sports team kits are not permitted. Official source.
Sandown Park
Corrected: the main car park off Portsmouth Road is currently £10. Official source.
Newmarket
Corrected: At the July Course, private hire cars and minibuses use the pickup and drop-off area reached through Gate 2 and leave through Gate 3. At the Rowley Mile, the pickup point is outside the Premier Entrance by the Annual Badge Holders’ car park. Official source.
Chester
Corrected: Use postcode CH1 4LD, not CH1 2LY Official source.
York
Corrected: Cars may remain overnight at the owner’s risk and must be removed before 10am the next day. Private-hire pickup points are in Car Park A for County Stand and hospitality, and Car Park C for Grandstand & Paddock and Clocktower. Official source.
Haydock Park
Parking is free at most racedays but charged on some big days, such as Sprint Cup Day, and the station shuttle is a paid bus. We had previously said both were free.
Chepstow
Clarified how children’s free tickets are issued: Chepstow’s own FAQ says at the gate on the day, although some big racedays list them on the booking page.
Chester
Corrected the box office phone number to 01244 304 600.
Chelmsford City
Updated to explain that racing has been paused since April 2026 while a new operator is confirmed.
Catterick
Removed a raceday shuttle that no longer runs, and added the bus that stops outside the grandstand.
Limits
What this guide doesn’t do
We don’t sell tickets, accommodation, hospitality or transport.
We aren’t a live service: for raceday news, abandonments and travel disruption, check the racecourse and your transport operator.
We can’t replace a conversation with the racecourse about your own access needs.
Linking to a business isn’t an endorsement of everything it does.
