King George VI Chase and Christmas Hurdle · See the King George booking page for the current enclosure prices.
Kempton’s Boxing Day programme is headed by the King George VI Chase, with the Christmas Hurdle also on the card. Choose your enclosure before arranging transport: the Festival, Paddock and Premier areas offer different views and access. Our Kempton guide explains the choices and links to their booking pages.
The racecourse’s own travel advice explicitly says that trains do not run on Boxing Day. The on-site station therefore does not solve the holiday journey. Arrange a lift, a booked taxi or an advertised event coach, and confirm its return arrangements. Use the Christmas Festival travel information for any special service; an ordinary Waterloo timetable is unsuitable for planning this trip.

Formby Novices’ Hurdle · Boxing Day tickets from £30.
Aintree has published its Boxing Day meeting for 26 December, with the Formby Novices’ Hurdle on the programme. Its advance admission starts at £30. This is a separate booking from April’s Grand National Festival: choose the December event rather than a spring enclosure package.
Aintree station is across the road from the racecourse and normally connects with Liverpool Central. For this holiday, check Merseyrail’s actual 26 December departures and return services before relying on that convenient location. If driving, the official directions send you along the A59 and the yellow racecourse signs. Confirm Boxing Day parking instructions with your ticket rather than applying Grand National parking arrangements to December.

Boxing Day jumps racing · Check the dated event for admission prices.
Fontwell’s Boxing Day fixture gives West Sussex racegoers a local festive outing. Start with the event’s admission choices, then decide between the main car park and paid trackside parking. On the travel page, the venue distinguishes the parking areas with separate entrances and postcodes.
The important holiday exception is clear: the usual shuttle from Barnham railway station does not operate on Boxing Day. A railway journey and a shuttle journey are two separate bookings to check. The main parking area is free; the official page lists Boxing Day trackside parking at £15 in advance or £20 on arrival. If using a taxi, reserve the collection as well as the outward journey.

Quebec Stakes · Use the Boxing Day booking page for the event price.
Lingfield’s official calendar advertises Boxing Day racing featuring the Quebec Stakes. It offers a Flat-racing alternative to the jumps meetings elsewhere. The event link and our hub help you choose admission and find the course entrance without confusing this fixture with another December meeting.
Lingfield station is normally a short walk from the venue, but proximity is useful only when trains are operating. Look up 26 December specifically and have a complete alternative journey before paying for tickets. The official road advice uses RH7 6PQ and identifies M25 junction 6 or M23 junction 10 as approaches. It also confirms free parking at the course.

Lincolnshire National · Tickets from £14.
Market Rasen’s Rand Farm Park Boxing Day meeting has admission advertised from £14. The published programme includes the Lincolnshire National, giving visitors a feature chase to build their afternoon around. Read the event page for the current race order before setting an arrival time.
The venue has announced enhanced traffic management, including extra marshals, signage and changed approaches. Follow the yellow event signs and attendants, even where a familiar route or satnav suggests another entrance. Market Rasen station is normally about a mile away, but check holiday services before considering the walk. The racecourse recommends booking rural taxis in advance; arrange an identifiable pickup point and a return booking.

Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase · See Wetherby’s Christmas meeting ticket options.
Wetherby confirms the first day of its Yorkshire Christmas Meeting on Saturday 26 December 2026, with the Rowland Meyrick Handicap Chase as the highlight. The event page links to the Christmas ticket options. The general Paddock figure in our hub is a season starting price; compare it with the dated Christmas booking before setting your budget.
Official parking advice confirms free public parking on grass and free Blue Badge spaces beside the main entrance for Premier and Paddock visitors. Follow the enclosure instructions on your e-ticket. Park and View is listed for Boxing Day, but it is a separate admission choice with no crossover to the Paddock. Choose it for the experience you want, rather than treating it as ordinary overflow parking.

Fitzdares Boxing Day Racing · Advance tickets advertised from £13.
Wincanton’s official seasonal listings confirm Fitzdares Boxing Day Racing on 26 December, advertised from £13. Use that event’s ticket page for your admission choice, especially if you want a particular viewing area or a family booking. A normal winter fixture price need not match this holiday event.
The racecourse sits on the B3081 between Wincanton and Bruton, just off the A303, and confirms free parking. Its usual courtesy bus connects with Templecombe trains, but the operator directs visitors to each fixture page for times. Check the Boxing Day event for an explicit service announcement before depending on it. For a group, sharing a car can simplify the holiday connection and the journey home.

Boxing Day all-weather racing · Check Wolverhampton’s event booking for tickets.
Wolverhampton completes the Boxing Day list with all-weather Flat racing. The venue has a dedicated Boxing Day information page as well as its fixture calendar. Choose the horse-racing event when booking: the venue also hosts greyhound racing, with a separate calendar and admission arrangements.
The official travel page places the course at Dunstall Park, WV6 0PE, off the A449 Stafford Road. It confirms free on-site car parking and coach spaces. Wolverhampton railway station is around two and a half miles from the course, so a station arrival still needs a final connection. Check holiday rail services and pre-book that connection rather than assuming a normal city-centre journey will be available.

Boxing Day jumps racing · See Down Royal’s Boxing Day booking for the event price.
Down Royal’s official fixture calendar confirms racing on 26 December 2026. This Northern Ireland meeting sits alongside the eight British fixtures listed by the BHA. Use the Boxing Day booking for your ticket rather than the October Festival admission choices in our course guide.
The venue’s visitor information confirms free parking and gives BT27 5RW for the entrance. It describes a bookable return bus from Belfast, with arrangements linked to the raceday booking. Confirm the Boxing Day departure location, outward time and return with the operator before paying. For travel through Lisburn or Belfast, use the holiday timetable and arrange the final leg to the course.

New Year’s Day racing: 1 January 2027
The BHA confirms seven meetings for Friday 1 January 2027. Cheltenham and Musselburgh already appear in our dated hub fixtures; Exeter, Catterick Bridge, Windsor, Southwell and Newcastle complete the national list. Open each course’s booking page for the latest tickets and holiday arrival details.
New Year’s Day jumps racing · Official seasonal listing: admission from £13.50.
Cheltenham confirms racing on 1 January 2027, with tickets advertised from £13.50 in the Jockey Club’s seasonal listings. Pick the New Year’s Day event when buying; March’s Festival ticket and parking arrangements are different. Our hub covers the general enclosure choices.
Cheltenham Spa is the nearest mainline station. The official directions page describes a raceday bus connection, but look up the 1 January service and its return departures before making that your plan. If driving, use the car-park instructions for this fixture. Leave room in the journey for queues and the walk from parking to your enclosure.

Auld Reekie Handicap Chase and Hogmaneigh Hurdle · Admission from £42 on the official raceday listing.
Musselburgh’s New Year meeting is scheduled for Friday 1 January 2027. Compare its dated booking choices with the admission information in our guide, then arrange the holiday journey from Edinburgh or East Lothian. Reserve both legs if you choose a taxi.
The course’s Find Us page confirms free public car and coach parking at the top of Balcarres Road, using EH21 7SD. It normally operates courtesy buses from Wallyford Park and Ride and Newcraighall. The timetable checked for this guide did not show a January service, so confirm the New Year arrangement directly before combining a train with that shuttle. Normal raceday connections are not a holiday timetable.

New Year’s Day racing · Advance admission advertised from £19.
Exeter’s event page confirms Friday 1 January 2027, and the Jockey Club advertises advance admission from £19. This is a countryside racecourse trip, so decide how you will reach the venue before choosing a rail arrival in the city.
Exeter’s transport page now describes bookable dedicated buses from Exeter St Davids, Exeter city centre and Newton Abbot station. It tells visitors to select their fixture to see available tickets and timings. Use the New Year booking specifically. If considering the ordinary route 39, check its holiday timetable and follow the venue’s pedestrian directions; do not cross the A38 dual carriageway to reach a return stop.

New Year’s Day jumps meeting · Check the 2027 event for admission.
The BHA’s 2027 list includes Catterick Bridge on New Year’s Day. The racecourse’s fixture and admission pages are the places to confirm the individual ticket choices. Our Catterick guide explains the two main spectator areas and their practical differences.
Darlington is the mainline station identified by the venue, approximately 15 miles away. Hodgsons service 34 normally stops outside the grandstand, but confirm a 1 January timetable before planning around it. The old racecourse shuttle is no longer running. For a taxi, the official collection and drop-off point is the Owners & Trainers/Hospitality car park opposite the main entrance.

New Year’s Day jumps meeting · See the dated Windsor fixture for prices.
Royal Windsor appears on the BHA’s New Year’s Day 2027 schedule. Follow the course calendar for the event booking and use our hub to understand admission, the course layout and places to stay. Choose the winter fixture rather than one of Windsor’s summer evening events.
The venue’s road directions confirm free visitor parking and use SL4 5EZ for satnav. Windsor town centre is around a mile and a half from the racecourse. If arriving by train, check the holiday timetable and your final connection to the entrance. A summer boat service or normal weekday connection should not be assumed for this January afternoon.

New Year’s Day all-weather meeting · Use the New Year fixture’s ticket choices.
Southwell is scheduled for all-weather racing on 1 January 2027 in the BHA fixture list. Open the official calendar for admission and event details. The racecourse is at Rolleston, so a stay in Southwell town still needs a connection to the track.
Rolleston station is beside the venue, but not every weekday train calls there. Check the exact holiday service in both directions. The official travel page recommends NG25 0FT for Racecourse Road. It also warns of approach-road restrictions for Sunday and floodlit meetings: follow event signs if those arrangements apply to your fixture, rather than a saved satnav route.

New Year’s Day all-weather meeting · Find the New Year ticket price on Newcastle’s calendar.
Newcastle’s all-weather New Year’s Day meeting is listed by the BHA for 1 January 2027. Use the racecourse calendar for the dated booking. Its Gosforth Park setting means you should plan the final leg even when the first part of your journey is a mainline train to Newcastle.
The official travel information identifies Regent Centre and Four Lane Ends as nearby Metro stations, around two miles from the course. Shuttles operate on selected feature days, with details in pre-arrival emails and venue announcements. Confirm whether a shuttle serves this meeting and check the Metro’s holiday timetable. A taxi or lift booked to the course can remove that extra connection.

Book the return journey first
Start with the journey home, particularly if you are travelling without a car. Work backwards from a confirmed return service, allow for the walk out of the enclosure and the queue at the pickup point, then decide which outward departure works. A train appearing in a generic weekday timetable is not enough: enter Saturday 26 December 2026 or Friday 1 January 2027 in the operator’s journey planner.
Separate each connection. A mainline train, a local bus and a courtesy shuttle may have different holiday arrangements. Confirm the final stop and the distance from it to your entrance. For a taxi, give the firm the racecourse, meeting date, passenger numbers and return pickup point together. Ask how it will handle a delayed finish or traffic near the exit.
For drivers, compare the enclosure entrance with the car-park directions on the ticket. Share the route with everyone in the car and leave time for the approach roads. Anyone who needs accessible parking should contact the course before the day: a space near one entrance may not suit a ticket for another area. Arrange a designated driver if your group plans to drink.
Make the winter afternoon comfortable
Build a budget from the actual event ticket, travel, parking where charged, and food. Compare the total journey cost between courses rather than choosing solely on the lowest admission figure. A more convenient local meeting can be a better choice than a distant bargain when holiday connections are limited.
Wear layers and footwear suited to a day outdoors. Keep a waterproof layer available and choose shoes you can walk in comfortably from a car park or station. Before bringing a picnic, read the chosen enclosure’s rules; permission in one area does not extend automatically to another. If visiting with children, check the dated ticket page for the child admission terms and reserve any required free tickets.
Save the ticket and transport details before leaving home. Note the course contact number and pickup location, and keep enough phone battery for the return journey. For a first visit, our first raceday guide explains the Parade Ring, racecard and how to move between races. You can enjoy the afternoon without placing a bet.
