Where your ticket takes you

Not included

The view

The public areas give views across Carlisle’s oval course towards the uphill finish. Use the grandstand for indoor shelter and move outside between races to the trackside and Parade Ring. The racecourse map and app show the different public areas; views are not reserved and seating is shared.

Food and drink

Public food and drink outlets are spread between the main grandstand, Parade Ring and entrance side of the site.

Bell Hall

On the ground floor of the main grandstand, open to all; it has two bars and a traditional fish and chip shop.

The Coffee House

Inside Bell Hall, serving Cranstons’ pies, soup, sandwiches, confectionery and hot drinks.

Monet’s Bar

Open to all near the route from the main grandstand towards the Parade Ring, with beer, lager, wine, champagne and gin.

Red Rum Bar

An all-public bar beside the Parade Ring.

The General’s Bar & BBQ

By the main turnstiles, with a bar and barbecue food.

Facilities

Betting

The public ticket includes the Betting Ring, William Hill and Tote facilities. The Tote accepts cash and debit cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay; on-course bookmakers accept cash.

Seating and shelter

General-admission seating is available around the site and public areas of the main grandstand provide indoor shelter, but seats are not reserved.

Mobile tickets and map

Tickets can be printed or shown on your phone, and The Jockey Club app can hold mobile tickets and an interactive Carlisle map.

Toilets

Carlisle lists accessible toilets across the venue; ask a steward for the nearest facilities.

Dress code

There is no formal dress code at Carlisle. The racecourse’s advice is to dress to feel your best, whether that means jeans and trainers or a smarter outfit. Much of the venue is outdoors, so comfortable footwear, a warm layer and a waterproof coat are sensible choices; brollies can help in changeable weather.

Getting in

Use the main turnstiles and show your printed ticket or the ticket on your phone; you can also access mobile tickets through The Jockey Club app. The time the gates open changes by fixture and appears on the event page. Carlisle may check bags on entry, does not allow visitors to bring their own alcohol and does not permit picnics.

Accessibility

Accessible parking is available near the main entrance; Blue Badge holders should follow the arrival signs and speak to stewards. Carlisle provides step-free access to key public areas including parts of the grandstand, accessible toilets across the site and accessible refreshment areas. Its public page does not map every route, so use the linked AccessAble guide for gradients, viewing places and surfaces. Eligible guests receiving DLA, AA, PIP or AFIP, or who are registered blind, can request one complimentary personal assistant ticket by email or phone in advance or on the day, with proof of award and matching photo ID.

Children and families

Children are welcome and attend most Carlisle racedays free when with an adult. All under-18s must arrive with a responsible adult aged 21 or over, or their parent, with no more than three under-18s per adult. Once inside, children aged 15 and under must remain with that adult; 16- and 17-year-olds may move around independently while their adult remains on site. Under-18s are not admitted to Ladies Night.

Tips

Upgrading

Carlisle’s optional Punters Package includes General Admission, a racecard, a voucher for pie and peas with a hot drink at the Coffee House, and a voucher for one pint of house lager or beer or a 175ml house wine at Bell Hall Bar. For restaurant dining, book Swifts separately; hospitality options are not part of General Admission.
