Accessibility at Musselburgh Racecourse

Musselburgh has level access from the street, reserved parking and accessible viewing and toilet provision. Personal-assistant tickets require evidence and advance application; the two annual sell-outs have limited allocations.

Talk to the racecourse first

Email enquiries@musselburgh-racecourse.co.uk, or call 0131 665 2859, or use the racecourse contact page. Tell them the meeting, your ticket, how you are arriving, any equipment you use and the facilities you need.

Your visit, step by step

  1. Personal-assistant ticket

A companion ticket is available for a paying disabled adult with valid carer identification or supporting documentation. Email the application before the meeting. New Year’s Day and Ladies Day allocations are first come, first served and are not issued on the raceday.

  2. Parking and arrival

Reserved disabled spaces are at the front of the public car parks on Balcarres Road. The entrances are about 500 metres away; a free shuttle connects them. Call 0131 665 2859 in advance if that arrangement will not meet your needs.

  3. Routes and viewing

There’s level access from the street to the main entrance. Ask staff for the best accessible viewing spot on the day, as temporary facilities on big racedays can change the routes.

  4. Toilets

An accessible toilet is at Pinkie’s Bar. Access is managed by security staff, so tell a member of the security team when you need it. The racecourse says accessible toilet units are also available on racedays.

  5. Assistance dogs and questions

Contact the access team before booking if you are bringing an assistance dog or need a quieter route, seating, medication storage or another adjustment not described in the public guide.
