Talk to the racecourse first

Email info@sedgefield-racecourse.co.uk, or call 01740 621925, or use the racecourse contact page. Tell them the meeting, your ticket, how you are arriving, any equipment you use and the facilities you need.

Your visit, step by step

  1. Request accessible parking

Accessible bays are near the main entrance, including five dedicated wheelchair spaces. Parking is first-come, first-served; tell the car park stewards if you need an accessible space.

  2. Arrange an orientation visit

Spectators with access needs can arrive 15 minutes before the gates open for an orientation. Contact the racecourse at least 48 hours ahead to arrange this.

  3. Plan movement and viewing

Many paths are tarmac, but some routes cross grass and conditions can change when wet. Accessible toilets and two lifts are available. The outside covered viewing at the grandstand is reached by terraced steps; bars have covered seating and TV screens.

  4. Book a personal assistant ticket

A personal assistant accompanying a paying guest with access needs can enter free. Arrange the ticket by email at least 24 hours ahead and bring evidence of access needs on the day.
