Where your ticket takes you

Not included

The view

Sherwoods sits on the second floor of Nottingham’s Grandstand and looks across the racecourse. The restaurant’s position gives you a sheltered place to follow the horses and watch live racing on the venue’s TVs, then step back into the Main enclosure between races. The website describes trackside views but does not guarantee a particular table position or a clear view from every seat; if that matters, ask when you book whether a window table can be arranged. For a closer look at the runners before a race, use the Parade Ring access in the public enclosure and return to your table afterwards.

Food and drink

The restaurant sells several levels of set-menu and à la carte hospitality; you book the package and the table service is part of the experience.

Season Saver

The lower-priced listed option: a two-course set meal, followed by tea or coffee. Its 2026 online fixture listing was £75.

Classic

A two-course seated à la carte meal with tea and coffee, a racecard and drinks service to the table. A 2026 online listing showed £95.

Premier

A three-course seated à la carte meal, followed by a light afternoon tea at afternoon fixtures or a cheese plate on evening meetings. A 2026 online listing showed £112.

VIP

The restaurant menu includes a VIP experience with a prosecco arrival, three-course à la carte meal and tea or coffee; it was marked sold out on the currently listed booking page, with no rate displayed.

Facilities

Reserved table and indoor seating

Your package includes a private table within the restaurant. Sherwoods is on the second floor and is air-conditioned according to the course’s restaurant description.

Live racing and Tote

Screens show the day’s racing and the restaurant has a Tote betting facility, so guests can follow a race or place a Tote bet without going to a public stand.

Drinks to your table

The listed packages include table drinks service. The price of individual drinks and whether each package includes a particular beverage are not published on the general restaurant page.

Toilets and lifts

Lifts in the Grandstand serve Sherwoods. The racecourse lists an accessible toilet in the restaurant and three more elsewhere on site; toilets use RADAR keys.

Dress code

Nottingham’s dress guidance is deliberately relaxed: wear what makes you comfortable and confident. The racecourse says clean trainers, jeans and a sweatshirt are fine, just as a suit or dress is welcome. No separate dress code for Sherwoods is published. For lunch or a special occasion you may prefer to dress smartly, but it is not a ticket condition stated by the venue. Bring layers or a small umbrella for the outdoor areas, and shoes you can walk in when you leave the Grandstand to visit the Parade Ring or watch from the trackside. Offensive fancy dress may be refused and team kits are discouraged.

Getting in

Sherwoods is on the second floor of the Grandstand; its package includes hospitality admission and the restaurant facility. The official FAQ says hospitality tickets are posted out, so allow for that delivery method and bring the issued ticket to the entrance. The site does not publish a dedicated restaurant entrance or fixed opening time in the general package description. Public gates normally open 90 minutes before the first race on non-feature days and two hours before it on feature racedays; fixture times can change. Nottingham’s online advance tickets arrive by email or can be presented on a phone, but hospitality tickets are posted. Free car parking is available.

Accessibility

A lift in the Grandstand building serves Sherwoods on the second floor. The racecourse lists one of its four RADAR-key accessible toilets inside the restaurant. General-admission areas and their food, drink and betting facilities are on ground level; accessible viewing ramps serve the track and Parade Ring. Limited free preferential parking for Blue Badge holders is near the entrances. Buy your own ticket first, then email nottingham@thejockeyclub.co.uk on the same day to apply for one complimentary personal-assistant ticket if you need a companion to avoid substantial disadvantage. For a particular table or step-free route, contact the course on 0115 958 0620.

Children and families

Children are allowed at most Nottingham fixtures and under-18 admission is usually free with an adult, but the racecourse says some fixtures require paid child tickets and availability can be limited. The Sherwoods pages do not list a 2026 child meal price, so the adult package price should not be assumed to cover a child’s meal. Ask the restaurant team to confirm the child’s admission and menu price before booking. Under-18s must enter with a parent or responsible adult aged 21 or older, limited to three under-18s per adult. Those aged 15 and under must remain with their adult throughout the day; 16- and 17-year-olds can move around provided their responsible adult remains on site.
