Who it suits
- Families who want to keep coats, picnic supplies and children’s essentials in their car during the meeting.
- A group of up to four adults who want to watch from beside their parked vehicle in the marked trackside area.
- Visitors who prefer a relaxed outdoor picnic and do not need Premier-only bars or restaurant dining.
Ticket prices
| Ticket | Published price |
|---|---|
| One vehicle with up to four adultsSeparate Park & View ticket; price not stated in the current public information | Not published |
Thirsk confirms the ticket admits one vehicle with up to four adults to the specified trackside area, but its current public enclosure and FAQ pages do not state a 2026 price. The ticket should be purchased separately; the racecourse recommends it for visitors who want to park in the Park & View area.
Where your ticket takes you
- Enter the signed Park & View area within the Grandstand, Paddock & Picnic enclosure; the map marks its own entrance and the vehicle area beside the picnic ground.
- Use the public Grandstand, Paddock & Picnic facilities, including the Parade Ring, Winner’s Enclosure viewing, betting ring and bars.
- Use the marked picnic area for food and drink brought from home; food and drink may not be consumed elsewhere in the grounds.
- Visit the permanent playground and bandstand on foot from the vehicle area.
Not included
- Premier-only bars and dining are not part of this public-enclosure ticket. Buy Premier admission separately or pay the upgrade fee at the course.
- The ticket does not reserve an indoor seat or a restaurant table; its benefit is trackside vehicle parking for up to four adults.
- The current public information does not describe an overnight stay or motorhome option; Thirsk says vehicles cannot stay overnight and motorhomes are not allowed in Park & View.
The view
Park & View is a specified trackside vehicle area inside the Picnic Enclosure, shown on the official map as a zone beside the picnic area. Its layout is suited to watching outside or from alongside the car while keeping your picnic nearby. It is not a grandstand seat reservation: for a higher or covered view, walk to the public viewing stands and grandstand. The same public enclosure gives access to the Parade Ring and Winner’s Enclosure, so you can leave the car area between races and return later.
Food and drink
This ticket is designed around a car-side picnic, with the public enclosure’s cafés, bars and mobile caterers within walking distance.
Your picnic
Bring food for consumption in the designated picnic area. Enter through the Picnic Entrance; the racecourse limits alcohol to four cans of beer or cider, or one bottle of wine or fizz per person, with no spirits.
Saddle Room Café
The official racecourse map marks the Saddle Room Bistro in the public enclosure for raceday meals and snacks.
James Herriot Hall and Bar 67
Bars are shown in James Herriot Hall and the 1967 Stand. The bandstand nearby provides live music during the day.
Mobile caterers
Thirsk lists mobile catering around the grounds, offering an alternative to bringing your own food.
Facilities
Vehicle area
One vehicle with up to four adults is admitted to the specified trackside Park & View area. The ticket is intended for a car-boot picnic, not overnight parking.
Family facilities
The area is part of the public enclosure with a permanent adventure playground; the course says children’s activities are free on Saturday meetings, Family Days and during school holidays.
Betting and toilets
The shared enclosure includes a betting ring, Tote points and a William Hill shop. The official map marks accessible toilets and first aid around the public facilities.
Nearby public parking
Racecourse public car parks are free, but a Park & View ticket is needed to take the vehicle into the trackside area. No vehicle may be left overnight, and motorhomes are not allowed on this ticket.
Dress code
There is no dress code in the Grandstand, Paddock & Picnic enclosure, including the Park & View area. Wear practical shoes for walking from the car to the parade-side facilities and bring weatherproof layers: the vehicle area is open-air. If you plan to upgrade to Premier, dress to its code before leaving home, as the course does not list a changing facility.
Getting in
Follow signs for the separate Park & View entrance and show the vehicle ticket to staff. The official map marks the Park & View entrance next to the public picnic area; the ticket admits one vehicle with up to four adults. The racecourse says vehicles that block other visitors’ views may be asked to park towards the back of the area. No vehicle may stay overnight, and motorhomes are not permitted. Use the picnic entrance for food and drink, and expect bag searches at management discretion. Thirsk does not publish a single gate time for every fixture.
Accessibility
The official course map marks accessible parking and viewing in the Grandstand, Paddock & Picnic enclosure, plus accessible toilets and first aid. The Park & View ticket itself admits a vehicle and up to four adults, but the public pages do not explain whether accessible parking bays can be reserved inside this zone. Contact the racecourse Access Officer on 01845 522276 or info@thirskracecourse.net to arrange a complimentary personal assistant ticket using the Digital Access Card process and to ask about an appropriate parking and viewing position. Do not assume the vehicle area is level or has a reserved accessible bay based only on the map.
Children and families
Accompanied under-18s are admitted free to the public enclosure, but add a complimentary child ticket to the booking. The Park & View allowance is one vehicle with up to four adults; the public description does not state whether children count toward that adult limit. Families wanting a fixed admission bundle can use the 2026 Family Ticket on non-Saturday meetings: £25 in advance or £30 on the day for two adults and accompanying children. Ask the racecourse how that ticket combines with Park & View before booking, as the public page recommends purchasing Park & View to bring a car into the area.
Tips
- Treat Park & View as a separate vehicle ticket; ordinary public car parking is free but does not allow parking in this trackside zone.
- Keep the car positioned so it does not obstruct other spectators. The racecourse may move vehicles that block views to the back of the parking area.
- Bring picnic food through the Picnic Entrance and eat it only in the marked area. Spirits and barbecues are prohibited.
- Plan to park elsewhere if travelling in a motorhome: the course excludes motorhomes from Park & View and does not allow overnight parking.
- The published ticket says up to four adults per vehicle. Contact the course if your party includes children and you are unsure how they are counted.
Upgrading
The Park & View ticket is in the Grandstand, Paddock & Picnic enclosure. The course says those racegoers may upgrade to Premier on the day for a transfer fee; the amount is not stated in the public ticket information.
