Talk to the racecourse first

Call 01904 620911, or use the racecourse contact page. Tell them the meeting, your ticket, how you are arriving, any equipment you use and the facilities you need.

Your visit, step by step

  1. Parking

Blue Badge holders park free. County Stand and Grandstand & Paddock racegoers follow signs for Car Park C (Knavesmire Road and off Bishopthorpe Road); Clocktower racegoers use Car Park A, about 80 yards from the accessible Clocktower entrance across the track. Parking is on grass and can be uneven.

  2. Companion tickets

York’s Accessibility Companion scheme lets a racegoer who needs physical help bring a companion free.

  3. Viewing

A raised platform for about ten wheelchairs sits in front of the County Stand lawn, looking at the final straight and the winning post. There are step-free raised platforms in the Grandstand & Paddock, step-free viewing at the Parade Ring and Pre-Parade Ring, and a trackside area near the winning post in the Clocktower.

  4. Toilets and wheelchairs

Accessible toilets use a RADAR key; keys are available from the racecourse team. Wheelchairs can be borrowed if you reserve one in advance.

  5. Getting there

A wheelchair-accessible shuttle bus runs from York station on racedays. Assistance dogs are welcome; let the racecourse know in advance.
