Big race dates 2027: UK racing festivals

Compare the 2027 dates confirmed by the racecourses, then choose the day, enclosure and travel plan. Historic ticket figures are labelled by year; pending dates need official confirmation before you book.

2027 dates at a glance

Eight meetings below have 2027 dates verified on official pages. Royal Ascot and British Champions Day await official date verification; Kempton’s checked King George page still describes 2026. A pending entry means that this guide cannot yet confirm the date. It does not mean the event has been cancelled.

Cheltenham Festival: 16–19 March

The Jockey Club confirms Tuesday 16 to Friday 19 March 2027. Champion Day opens the meeting, Ladies Day follows on Wednesday, St Patrick’s Thursday is the third day and Gold Cup Day is Friday. The four-day date range is useful for a full visit, but it is not one admission ticket: select the individual day and enclosure you need.

Our existing price table records a £30 Best Mate Wednesday ticket when 2027 sales opened in March 2026. Treat that as a launch-price reference, because staged increases can change the amount now offered. For a short visit, compare the Wednesday and Friday plans separately before choosing a room. The Festival guide sets out the ticket areas and the hotel guide explains the wider accommodation search.

Grand National Festival: 8–10 April

Aintree’s official pages confirm Thursday 8, Friday 9 and Saturday 10 April 2027. Saturday is Grand National Day; Friday is Ladies Day. A ticket for the Thursday opening does not give admission on Saturday, even when both are sold under the Festival heading. Check the date on every member of your group’s confirmation.

The existing enclosure guide has Festival Zone admission from £34, checked on 30 September 2026. That starting figure does not promise Saturday entry at the same price. Compare your chosen day and any seat or terrace separately. The Grand National guide covers the meeting, with a separate accommodation guide for Liverpool and wider bases.

Scottish Grand National Festival: 16–17 April

Ayr confirms Ladies Day on Friday 16 April and Scottish Grand National Saturday on 17 April 2027. The venue publishes separate booking products for the two days. Our site data records Saturday full prices from £40 for the Grandstand Tented Village, with other ticket areas costing more. Friday’s admission is a different comparison.

The Saturday figure follows an early-bird deadline that has already passed; do not use an expired discount when setting your budget. The Tented Village and Grandstand Premier have different access, so compare the enclosure inclusions before choosing the cheapest displayed option. Start with the Scottish Grand National guide and keep the station or car-park plan alongside the ticket choice.

Guineas Festival: 30 April–2 May

The Jockey Club confirms three days at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile from Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May 2027. Its Sunday event page identifies 2 May as 1000 Guineas Day. Select the race programme you want before choosing which of the three dates to attend.

The £10 starting figure stored in our earlier fixture data is explicitly a 2026 reference. We have therefore not presented it as a current 2027 offer in the table. Use the official booking page for the amount available for your chosen day and area. The Newmarket hub distinguishes the Rowley Mile and July Course arrangements; make sure your transport and accommodation refer to the right course.

Derby Festival: 4–5 June

The official timing page confirms Friday 4 June 2027 for Ladies Day and Saturday 5 June for Derby Day. The Derby itself is scheduled for 4pm on Saturday. That feature-race time is separate from the start of the afternoon’s programme, so avoid planning your arrival as if it were the first race.

Our earlier £32 paid-admission reference relates to 2026 and is not a 2027 quotation. The Derby guide compares the public areas and travel options. If you are considering the Hill, read that area’s description rather than assuming it offers the facilities or viewing of a ticketed stand. Agree the exact meeting place with companions before travelling.

Royal Ascot: awaiting the official saved pages

The Royal Ascot date in this calendar remains pending verification from the official Ascot information requested for this release. We are not treating an older season’s enclosure price as a confirmed 2027 ticket. The existing Royal Ascot guide provides background while the source update is waiting.

If your trip depends on a particular enclosure, settle admission eligibility and clothing requirements before committing to accommodation. For a group booking, make one shared record of the event, day and enclosure, then compare each confirmation against it. Wait for the dated official material before making a non-refundable reservation based solely on an expected annual pattern.

Qatar Goodwood Festival: 27–31 July

Goodwood’s official Festival page gives Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 July 2027. This is the horseracing Festival, also called Glorious Goodwood. Use the racecourse and horseracing event name when comparing tickets and accommodation, because the wider Goodwood estate holds other events.

The £21 Lennox figure in our earlier data is labelled as a 2026 early-bird price. It is shown here only as historical context, not a current offer. Compare the latest enclosure description alongside the price, particularly while facilities are changing. The Festival guide and hotel guide help connect the admission choice with the journey.

Ebor Festival: 18–21 August

York’s official fixture listing confirms Wednesday 18 to Saturday 21 August 2027. Its four-day meeting has different feature races each afternoon. Choose your day before comparing single tickets with a multi-day badge; the ticket terms decide which dates and areas that badge includes.

Our existing York data lists Clocktower entry from £5 on the day. Read the description of that enclosure and check the amount for your chosen meeting before using it as the budget for a different stand. The Ebor guide explains the enclosure choices, including the formal clothing requirements that apply in the County Stand.

St Leger Festival: 9–12 September

The verified Festival dates in the site data are Thursday 9 to Sunday 12 September 2027. Doncaster’s individual event page confirms St Leger Day on Saturday 11 September. Ladies Day opens the Festival on Thursday; the four-day plan and the Saturday feature should therefore be recorded separately in your itinerary.

We have no confirmed 2027 starting price in the existing data, so the table gives no invented figure. Follow the official event booking information for the enclosure you want. The St Leger guide also explains why Festival parking needs its own check: arrangements differ from ordinary racedays. Book the room and the racing as separate items unless your actual package includes both.

British Champions Day: verification pending

British Champions Day is included so that the autumn meeting is not silently left out of the calendar. Its 2027 date and price await the official Ascot material for this release. Search snippets and commercial calendars are not being used as a substitute for that requested source.

Use the Ascot hub for the venue background. Once the official event is verified, compare the actual enclosure, clothing rules and return journey before booking. A date for a different Ascot fixture, including Royal Ascot, does not establish admission or travel arrangements for Champions Day.

King George VI Chase: 2027 still to be confirmed here

The official Kempton event page checked for this guide is headed Saturday 26 December 2026. It does not provide a verified 2027 event date, so this calendar does not turn the annual Boxing Day tradition into a confirmed 2027 booking fact. The ticket and race times on that page belong to the displayed event year.

The Kempton Park hub gives the course details, and the Boxing Day racing guide covers the currently sourced holiday programme. Recheck holiday rail and road arrangements for the year you actually book. An ordinary weekday timetable is not a reliable plan for a Christmas visit.

Use the dates to build a complete trip

Our recommendation is to settle the day and enclosure first, then add transport and accommodation. Keep any cancellation deadline alongside the booking confirmation and distinguish a refundable room from a flexible race ticket; the terms of one booking do not automatically apply to the other. For a multi-day Festival, list every night you need, including the arrival before racing and departure after the final day.

Check access requirements with the course before purchasing an area that assumes you can negotiate steps or stand throughout the afternoon. Keep a return plan even if you hope to stay for entertainment. A feature-race start time, a final race and the end of music are different points in the programme. Use the current official schedule when deciding which train or pickup you can comfortably reach.
