- Families who want the children’s play space by the track and free admission for accompanied under-18s.
- Groups bringing a picnic: the designated picnic benches are in this enclosure, not in the Paddock or car park.
- Visitors looking for the lower-priced public ticket who still want food, drink, bookmakers and Britbet facilities.

- Alfresco catering, the Course Enclosure Bar and Café, on-course bookmakers and a Britbet counter.
Not included

The view
Course admission gives access to open areas alongside the track, with the dedicated picnic benches and family play area close to the racing. The current enclosure page presents it as a relaxed, open setting; for shelter you can use the indoor Course Enclosure Bar and Café or dine at Alfresco’s decked area. Course ticket holders do not have Paddock or Parade Ring access unless they upgrade at the gate, subject to availability. If you want a view from the Paddock Grandstand and the pre-race parade, buy Paddock admission from the outset or ask about an upgrade.
Food and drink
Course has a named outdoor food outlet, an indoor bar and a designated picnic area.
Alfresco Catering
The outdoor food outlet has decked seating and sells pasties, burgers, hot pork baps, jacket potatoes and chips, with teas, coffees and cold drinks.
Course Enclosure Bar and Café
An indoor space open at all fixtures, serving alcoholic and soft drinks and hot beverages.
Picnic area
Bring your own food and eat it at the picnic benches in the Course Enclosure. Alcohol, barbecues and cooking equipment are not allowed.
Facilities
Children’s play area
A gated play space is included within the Course Enclosure; at the 28 October 2026 Family Fun Day, all children’s activities were placed in Course.
Picnic benches
The designated picnic area has benches. Folding chairs are allowed and the racecourse says the Course grass or grandstand area is the best place to use them.
Betting
A full complement of bookmakers and a Britbet counter are listed for the Course Enclosure.
Upgrade option
Course tickets can be upgraded to Paddock on the day if space is available; the fee is £7 on standard fixtures or £10 on premium fixtures.
Dress code
Newton Abbot’s dress code is smart casual, with jeans and shorts permitted in both Course and Paddock. The Course is an informal outdoor area; wear shoes suited to grass and bring a layer for the weather. Hospitality dining has its own smarter dress rules, but those do not apply to the casual Course enclosure.
Getting in
Use the public entrance from Greenhill Way, at the traffic lights by Winners Gym near the Volvo garage. General parking is in the centre of the course and is free. Gates open at the time shown on the meeting page: 11:05am for 17 October 2026 and 11:51am for 28 October. Online bookings close at 11:59pm the evening before; tickets are sold at the gate at full price. Have a digital or printed ticket ready to scan. The current racecourse FAQs do not publish a bag-size rule.
Accessibility
Newton Abbot’s accessibility statement says the public entrance leads to a disabled car park on the right; wheelchair-accessible entrances are in all betting halls. Its published accessible viewing stand is at the front of the Paddock Grandstand, and the statement does not identify a separate Course viewing platform. The FAQ lists a free carer with proof of disability after the disabled patron buys their own ticket. Accessible toilet locations named by the racecourse are at the entrance to Paddock areas, the Terrace Rooms and the top floor of the Teign Suite; it does not name a Course-specific accessible toilet in that list. Contact the racecourse if you need details for a particular viewing location.
Children and families
Under-18s accompanied by an adult go free at all Newton Abbot fixtures. The ticket shop says to add the number of free children when booking; the FAQ notes that proof of age may be requested. Course is the most family-focused public enclosure, with a gated play area and picnic benches. Children’s activities listed for the 28 October 2026 Family Fun Day all take place in this enclosure; face painting had an additional charge.
Tips
- Course adult admission was £13 online or £15 at the gate for the 17 and 28 October 2026 fixtures.
- Book any free under-18s as well as adult tickets so the course has the expected attendance numbers.
- Bring a picnic, but eat it at the Course benches; alcohol, barbecues and cooking equipment are prohibited.
- If the Parade Ring matters to you, Paddock is the public ticket that includes it; Course-to-Paddock upgrades cost £7 or £10 depending on whether the meeting is standard or premium.
