Village Enclosure at Plumpton
The Village Enclosure is a relaxed centre-course ticket sold for selected fixtures. It has its own trackside atmosphere, bar, food concessions and betting, and is the only public area where racegoers may bring their own picnic food and drink.

Who it suits
- Families or groups who want a picnic-style day and would rather bring their own food, drinks and seating.
- Visitors with a dog: well-behaved dogs are welcome on a lead in the Village Enclosure, but not in the other public enclosure.
- Racegoers who prefer an outdoor, centre-course viewing spot and do not need the grandstand or parade ring.

The Village ticket is sold only on selected racedays. Plumpton states that advance general-admission tickets are discounted and admission is also sold online on the day and at the gate, but it did not expose a 2026/27 Village amount in the official booking page text checked on 3 October 2026. Accompanied under-18s go free.
Where your ticket takes you
- Centre-course grounds with trackside viewing and an outdoor picnic atmosphere.
- A Village bar, food concessions and on-course betting facilities when the enclosure is open.
- Permission to bring your own picnic food, drinks, alcohol and seating; this is the only enclosure where Plumpton permits these.
- Dogs on a lead are welcome in this enclosure.
Not included
- Access to the Grandstand or Parade Ring areas; the racecourse explicitly excludes these from Village admission.
- Access on every fixture: Village tickets are available only on selected racedays.
- A guaranteed covered seat or a published food menu for every date; much of the centre-course enclosure is grass and concessions vary.
The view
The Village is positioned in the middle of the racecourse and gives a different, centre-course view of the action from the grandstand side. You are outdoors and close to the track, with a bar, food concessions and betting on site when this enclosure is open. It does not give access to the parade ring or Grandstand, so choose it for the picnic-friendly setting rather than moving between Plumpton’s main spectator areas. The official accessibility information describes the enclosure as mainly grass with some paved areas; plan footwear and routes accordingly.
Food and drink
This is the enclosure for bringing your own provisions; buying food and drink on site is also possible when it is open.
Village bar
Plumpton lists one bar in the Village Enclosure, which opens only on selected fixtures.
Food concessions
The racecourse places food stalls in the Village on selected fixtures, with examples including burgers, pizzas and ice creams. The exact stalls depend on the event.
Bring your picnic
You may bring your own food, drinks and alcohol into the Village, along with picnic seating. This permission does not apply to Grandstand & Paddock.
Facilities
Betting
On-course betting facilities are listed among the Village ticket inclusions. Betting is optional and is for adults aged 18 or over.
Ground and seating
The Village is mainly grass with some paved sections. Plumpton also lists picnic benches and recommends weather-appropriate footwear for its outdoor areas.
Toilets and parking
The racecourse FAQ confirms seating around the venue and free on-site parking. Accessible toilets can be hired for centre-course events; ask the venue about the particular fixture.
Dress code
There is no formal dress code at Plumpton. Comfortable casual or smart-casual clothing is fine, and practical warm layers are useful because the Village is an outdoor enclosure. Wear shoes that can cope with grass, especially in wet weather. Team colours are allowed but team kits are discouraged; fancy dress must not be offensive or inappropriate.
Getting in
Village tickets are offered on selected fixtures only. Follow the event page and ticket instructions for that meeting because opening times vary by date; for the 19 October 2026 Bob Champion fixture, the advertised schedule is gates at 12 noon, first race 2pm and last race 5.05pm. Access from the main enclosure is across the racecourse, so allow time to cross and follow stewards’ directions. Tickets may be printed or displayed on your phone.
Accessibility
Plumpton describes the Village as mainly grass with some paved areas, so the route is less consistently firm than the tarmaced Grandstand & Paddock paths. Blue Badge parking is available in the centre of the course on grass as well as in the main tarmac car park, first come, first served. A South Entrance drop-off point and free wheelchair hire at both main entrances are available subject to availability. Temporary accessible toilets are hired for centre-course events. Ask the racecourse about the arrangements for your chosen fixture and companion admission on 01273 890383 or racing@plumptonracecourse.co.uk.
Children and families
Accompanied under-18s are free and do not need a ticket in the Village Enclosure. The picnic setting can suit families, and Plumpton puts family entertainment on selected Feature and Family Fun racedays. Dogs are also permitted here on leads, which can be useful for a group visiting together; dogs are not admitted to the Grandstand and Paddock public area.
Tips
- Confirm that the Village ticket is offered for your chosen fixture before booking: it is not open every raceday.
- Pack a picnic blanket or portable seat if you want to settle in; your own seating, food and drink are allowed here.
- Bring a lead for your dog and keep it on a lead throughout the enclosure.
- Allow extra time to cross from the main area and choose shoes suitable for grass and potentially muddy ground.
Upgrading
If you want the parade ring, grandstand and main bars, choose Grandstand & Paddock instead; that ticket includes the Village when it is open. Restaurant and private-box packages are separately booked and include admission.
