Dress code at Plumpton Racecourse

Plumpton encourages comfortable clothes chosen for the weather, with smart-casual dressing recommended in restaurants and private boxes. Fancy dress must avoid inappropriate or offensive outfits because these can lead to refusal of entry. Check the forecast before choosing your layers and footwear, and think about the time you will spend outdoors during the meeting. If you have booked a specific dining or hospitality package, consult its instructions or ask Plumpton for clarification before travelling. This keeps your outfit choice aligned with the area you have actually booked.

By car

Free parking

The entrance is on Plumpton Lane, about 8 miles from the A23 at Pyecombe. Parking is free. The main route crosses the railway; vehicles may leave only when the course is clear between races. Use the south entrance for hardstanding parking.

Local bus

Route 166 serves Plumpton Green

The 166 links Lewes and Haywards Heath via Plumpton Green, but services are limited and may not suit every raceday. Check the East Sussex journey planner and operator timetable for the return trip.

Parking at Plumpton Racecourse

Plumpton’s on-site parking is free and allocated on a first-come basis. Accessible parking is also available, with the course inviting guests who have particular requirements to contact the team before visiting. Check the official travel instructions and follow staff directions when arriving. Free parking does not mean a specific individual bay has been reserved, so discuss any essential access arrangement beforehand. If coming without a car, the course also notes that Plumpton station is a short walk away.
