- The Picnic Enclosure, which the racecourse says is included with a Grandstand & Paddock ticket.

The view
The Rapid Lad Grandstand gives a covered place to follow the race, while the open area by the Parade Ring lets you see horses before they go to the start. The Paddock puts you close to the horses before the race, and the Lavender Lawn offers a more relaxed place to stand. Your ticket also gives access to Picnic if you want an infield change of view, but you cannot enter Premier without a Premier badge.
Food and drink
This enclosure has a mix of bars, bistro seating and independent guest caterers.
Rapid Lad Bar and Café
The bar connects with the betting hall and serves hot and cold drinks and snacks including pie and peas. The café offers children’s lunchboxes on family and weekend meetings.
Cleverly’s Bar & Bistro
Bistro-style locally sourced food is served at the table, with views of the Westwood and track. Book a 1½-hour meal slot; walk-ins may be possible if space remains.
Cod Bless This Plaice
The Whitby fish-and-chip outlet in Touch Above Bar serves children’s meal portions as well as its regular menu.
Guest caterers and Minster Bar
The guest-food lineup changes at every meeting, and the Minster Bar opens onto the Lavender Lawn.
Facilities
Rapid Lad Grandstand
A grandstand with viewing and indoor bar facilities. Priority seating is available at the first rows for visitors with limited mobility, though those rows still require climbing some steps.
Betting
The betting hall connects to Rapid Lad; bookmakers and the Tote are also located near the Parade Ring.
Changing and baby care
Baby-changing facilities are in accessible toilets in each enclosure. A quiet private feeding space is available by arrangement with the racecourse.
Bring-your-own seating zone
The racecourse provides a designated lawn area outside Touch Above Bar for visitors who need to bring a chair.
Dress code
Grandstand & Paddock is relaxed. On busy days, smart jackets and dresses fit in, but jeans, trainers, sportswear and non-offensive fancy dress are allowed. Most of the area is outdoors, so choose comfortable shoes and bring a waterproof or warm layer when the forecast calls for it. Visitors are generally not permitted to bring their own food, drink or seating into this enclosure; the racecourse has a specific bring-your-own-chair zone on the lawn outside Touch Above Bar.
Getting in
Use the Grandstand & Paddock entry shown on your ticket. If you have reduced mobility, the racecourse directs you to the metal gates by the Parade Ring, at the end farthest from Beverley; an on-the-day ticket can be bought at the Raceday Office just inside. Gates and first-race times vary by fixture, and the 2027 times are not published yet. Advance admission was available until the first race in the 2026 guidance; tickets at the gate cost more. Beverley says there are no enclosure transfers on the day, though this ticket includes Picnic.
Accessibility
Reduced-mobility entry is through the metal gates near the Parade Ring. Step-free entrances serve Rapid Lad, Touch Above and Minster bars; a lift reaches the Paddock Bar on the first floor, but there is no lift to Cleverly’s Bistro or the grandstand’s second floor. The route to the Parade Ring is tarmac, and a reserved viewing platform sits by the running rail at the bottom of the Parade Ring. Accessible toilets with RADAR locks are available in every enclosure. Free companion tickets are available when booked with the guest; disabled parking is close to the racecourse and a Blue Badge is required for the designated Westwood car park.
Children and families
Under-18s are admitted free with an adult in Grandstand & Paddock on every fixture. Children can use baby-changing facilities in the accessible toilets, and the Minster and Hurn bars have bottle-warming stations. The racecourse lists £4.50 children’s meals at Cod Bless This Plaice and £6 picnic lunchboxes on family and weekend meetings in its 2026 dining information; availability can vary with the food outlet.
Tips
- If you want to see the horses before racing, head to the paddock before each race and then move to the grandstand for the action.
- Your ticket includes Picnic, so you can take a break in the infield without buying a second enclosure ticket.
- Cleverly’s Bistro takes a £15 per-person deposit, which is deducted from your final bill. It also accepts walk-ins when tables remain.
- Bring a card for most purchases, but keep cash available for some bookmakers; check the racecourse’s payment details before setting off.
- If you use a wheelchair or find steps difficult, note that there is no lift to Cleverly’s Bistro or the second floor.
Upgrading
There are no transfers between enclosures on the day. Ask the racecourse office about changing your ticket before the meeting; Premier tickets include Grandstand & Paddock and Picnic access.
