Picnic Enclosure at Beverley

Picnic is the relaxed grass enclosure in the centre of Beverley’s course. It has open space, the Hurn Bar and space for a pre-booked car close to the track; it is the only enclosure where racegoers may bring their own food and drink.

Where your ticket takes you

Not included

The view

This is an open-air infield enclosure where you can spread out on the grass, bring a meal and watch the races from close to the track. Beverley describes it as being in the centre of the course and lets visitors bring a car into the enclosure. There is no grandstand here; the area’s only building is the Hurn Bar. The atmosphere and viewing positions are more informal than the raised grandstand in Grandstand & Paddock.

Food and drink

Picnic is the only area where you can bring your own food and drink into the racecourse.

Your own picnic

You may bring food and drink into Picnic. Alcohol must be part of a substantial picnic: the racecourse guideline is up to four cans of lager or equivalent, or one bottle of wine per person. Neat spirits bottles are not allowed.

Hurn Bar

The enclosure’s only bar, serving hot and cold drinks, sandwiches and snacks.

Guest caterers and Sweet Delights

Food stalls vary each meeting. The sweet hut operates on Family Days; children’s hot meal portions and picnic lunchboxes are also sold at selected family and premium meetings.

Facilities

Grass and infield space

The enclosure is mostly grass with open space for groups; there is no main grandstand or indoor viewing room.

Car and minibus parking

You can book a car or minibus pass into the enclosure with your admission ticket. The Westwood car park opposite the course is free if you prefer to park outside.

Betting and toilets

The Hurn Bar is the only building and the Tote and bookmakers are near it. A unisex accessible toilet is at the end of the bar.

Family provisions

There are baby-changing facilities in the accessible bathroom; a bottle-warming station is located in the Hurn Bar.

Dress code

Picnic is Beverley’s most relaxed enclosure. Shorts, T-shirts and non-offensive fancy dress are allowed. The surface is primarily grass, so wear shoes that work on uneven outdoor ground. If you are bringing children, a weather layer and spare footwear can make a long afternoon on the infield more comfortable.

Getting in

Use the Picnic entrance shown on your ticket. If you are driving into the enclosure, book the car or minibus pass at the same time as the pedestrian tickets; the vehicle ticket is separate. Beverley recommends arriving around 1½ to 2 hours before the first race, with the busiest queues about 30 minutes before it. Race times and gates vary by fixture, and 2027 times have not yet been published. The racecourse carries out random checks on vehicles and bags entering the enclosure to enforce its picnic alcohol limits; excess alcohol may be confiscated. The free alternative car park is on the Westwood opposite the course.

Accessibility

The enclosure is primarily grass. Beverley says accessible parking is available in both car parks; inside Picnic, disabled parking is at the end closest to the Hurn Bar and amenities, and visitors should display a Blue Badge and ask a steward for directions. The Hurn Bar is the only building and has a unisex accessible toilet with a RADAR lock. A companion is admitted free with an accessibility ticket. If uneven grass is difficult, contact the racecourse before choosing Picnic and consider Grandstand & Paddock, which has more step-free routes and a designated viewing platform.

Children and families

Under-18s are welcome and free with an adult. The open area and occasional family-day entertainment make it popular with families. The 2026 catering page listed children’s sausage-and-chips or chicken-nugget-and-chips portions for £4.50 on premium and family days, chips for £3, and £6 lunchboxes on family and weekend meetings. The Hurn Bar has a bottle-warming station and baby-changing is available in the accessible bathroom.
