Dress code at Beverley Racecourse

Beverley uses suggested dress guidance rather than a uniform formal code. Picnic is the most relaxed enclosure and welcomes shorts, T-shirts and non-offensive fancy dress. Grandstand & Paddock also allows jeans, trainers and sportswear. Premier asks for a smart overall appearance but permits tailored shorts and T-shirts; sportswear and fancy dress are normally excluded there, apart from specified theme days. Check your fixture’s guidance if attending a themed meeting, and choose clothes suited to the forecast.

Evenings in Beverley

Beverley’s evenings take place in town, around the historic centre and Flemingate. The programme ranges from live theatre to film, followed by pubs, food and local bars.

Live performance

East Riding Theatre

This small venue in a converted Baptist chapel presents music, drama and comedy in Beverley town centre. Its programme gives a reason to extend a race visit overnight; the 2027 fixture calendar includes evening racing on 15 June, 2 July and 19 July.

Film and arts screenings

Parkway Cinema at Flemingate

The independent cinema screens recent films as well as opera, ballet and theatre relays. Flemingate is also a town-centre place for food and shops, so it works for a self-contained dinner-and-film evening.

Historic pubs and drinks

White Horse Inn, Chequers and the Rose & Crown

Visit East Yorkshire’s pub guide highlights the gas-lit rooms of the White Horse Inn (known locally as Nellie’s), cask beer and cider at Chequers Micropub, and the Rose & Crown’s food, cocktails and ales; the guide dates the latter’s history back more than 400 years.

Town venues and the 2027 race fixture list checked 3 October 2026.

Things to do while you are here

Beverley’s historic centre makes a good second-day plan: the Minster and St Mary’s anchor two ends of the town, while the Treasure House combines local collections and visitor facilities under one roof.

Beverley Minster

A landmark Gothic church with a history of worship on the site stretching back 1,300 years. It is open to visitors daily, 10am–4pm, except 26 December; entry is free, with donations welcome. Guided roof tours and Minster tours are offered, and Sunday morning visitor access is limited to the west end until services finish.

St Mary’s Church

At the other end of the town centre, St Mary’s is a large medieval parish church with a painted ceiling, carved details and the white rabbit said to have inspired Lewis Carroll. Check its own visitor page for opening information and events.

Champney Treasure House

The council-run museum introduces East Riding history and culture through changing exhibitions and collection displays, including the South Cave Weapons Cache discovered in 2002. The building also brings together the library, archives, art gallery, café and tourist information; museum entry is free.

Beverley Westwood

This wide common on the edge of town is shared by walkers, grazing animals and the racecourse. It gives visitors open space for a walk or picnic and explains the unusual setting of the track.

On the day

Useful arrival and ticket details from Beverley Racecourse. The 2027 fixture dates are published, while its meeting-specific race-time schedule is still to come.

Tickets on your phone

The racecourse scans e-tickets straight from a phone. Subject to availability, gate sales are offered at some meetings; online sales can continue until the first race and are cheaper than gate prices.

Children and enclosure exceptions

Accompanied under-18s go free in most enclosures and do not need a ticket. In the Premier Enclosure, ages 5–17 need tickets on Saturday fixtures and Ladies Day; the published 2027 calendar lists Ladies Day on Wednesday 11 August.

Parking and transport

Parking on Beverley Westwood opposite the course is free. A pre-booked car ticket lets you park inside the Picnic Enclosure. Buses from Hull, York and Leeds stop outside the course; Beverley trains from Hull run about every 25 minutes, and the course is roughly 1.7 miles from the station by road.

Card and cash

Beverley encourages card payment at bars, but the FAQ says cash remains accepted at designated bars and food outlets and by on-course bookmakers and the Tote. Wi-Fi is free across the site.

Families and groups

Children are welcome in every Beverley enclosure. Accompanied under-18s are generally admitted free, with specific ticket exceptions in the Premier Enclosure.

2027 Family Fun Racedays

The racecourse’s 2027 list names Family Fun Racedays on 3 May, 26 May, 27 July and 29 August; it notes that the 29 August date awaits ITV confirmation. Accompanied under-18s are free in Grandstand & Paddock and Picnic. Children aged 5–17 need a Premier ticket at Saturday meetings and on Ladies Day.
