Picnic Enclosure at Perth
The Picnic Enclosure is Perth’s outdoor, family-friendly enclosure, with grass viewing and the option to bring your own food, soft drinks and picnic furniture. It has its own pedestrian entrance and a separately purchased car pass for visitors who want to drive into the enclosure.

Who it suits
- Families or groups who want an informal outdoor day and space to bring food from home.
- Visitors who prefer picnic tables or their own chairs to formal restaurant seating.
- Racegoers attending a weekend or Ladies Day fixture when the Picnic Enclosure is scheduled to open.
Ticket prices
| Ticket | Published price |
|---|---|
| Picnic TicketFoot entry to the enclosure | Not published |
| Picnic Ticket Car PassAdditional vehicle entry; does not replace admission | Not published |
Perth confirms these as separate ticket products but does not show a 2026 price on its visitor facilities or FAQ pages. The official 2027 fixture calendar had not opened early-bird ticket sales when checked on 4 October 2026. Picnic tickets must be bought online in advance; no on-the-day Picnic price was published.
Where your ticket takes you
- A Picnic Ticket admits the visitor on foot into the Picnic Enclosure; Perth identifies it as a separate public enclosure from the Grandstand.
- A Picnic Ticket Car Pass is an extra purchase at checkout if you wish to bring your vehicle into the enclosure.
- Visitors may bring their own food and soft drinks, but not alcohol, glass bottles or glasses; barbecues are not allowed.
- The course allows picnic furniture and encourages visitors to use their own seating. A public toilet block and accessible toilet are in the enclosure when open.
Not included
- The Picnic ticket does not include entry to the Grandstand Enclosure, its Parade Ring, Winner’s Ring, bars or restaurants.
- A car pass is not an admission ticket; each visitor still needs their own Picnic Ticket.
- Bringing a picnic is normally allowed, but Perth’s FAQ specifically excludes Ladies Day from that rule. Grazing on the Green is a separately sold Ladies Day package.
The view
Picnic is exclusively grass, with an outdoor view of the racing and picnic benches in some areas. Bring a blanket or low picnic furniture if you prefer to sit on the ground; the racecourse encourages personal seating here. There is no published promise of a covered stand, so plan for sun, rain and wind. The hospitality offer Grazing on the Green has its own stretch tent and trackside viewpoint on Ladies Day, but that package is separate from an ordinary Picnic ticket.
Food and drink
This is the enclosure where Perth allows visitors to bring a picnic, subject to its rules.
Bring your own picnic
The standard Picnic rules allow food and soft drinks from home. No alcohol, glass bottles or glasses are allowed, and the racecourse prohibits disposable or other barbecues.
On-site vendors
Perth also says food vendors operate on racedays, although its facilities page does not guarantee which stalls will open in Picnic at every fixture. The ticket pages name family food options on specific meetings.
Grazing on the Green
For 2026 Ladies Day, the separate Grazing package included 12 street-food vouchers and six drink vouchers per table of six. The ordinary Picnic ticket does not include those vouchers.
Facilities
Seating and setting
The enclosure is all grass. Perth encourages you to bring picnic furniture and says stewards can direct you to a suitable set-up area.
Toilets
A toilet block is listed in Picnic. The accessibility page identifies an accessible toilet beside the main public toilet block when the enclosure is open.
Parking inside Picnic
The 2026 ticket system required an additional Picnic Ticket Car Pass to take your car into the enclosure. A separate car pass is also required for Blue Badge holders who wish to drive into Picnic.
When it opens
Perth’s accessibility page says Picnic opens on Ladies Day and weekend fixtures only. A specific meeting may have its own ticket availability or enclosure information.
Dress code
There is no formal dress code, but Perth recommends dressing for the weather because Picnic is exclusively outdoors. The ground is grass, so sturdy shoes are more useful than thin heels. Pack a waterproof layer, sun protection and a blanket if you plan to sit out between races. Football attire is discouraged across the racecourse.
Getting in
Buy Picnic admission online in advance; Perth says Picnic tickets are not sold at the gate. Use the Picnic Enclosure entrance shown on the official map, and scan each visitor’s ticket there. If you want to take a car into Picnic, add the Picnic Ticket Car Pass as well; it is not a parking ticket for the general car parks and does not admit passengers by itself. Enclosure opening is limited to Ladies Day and weekend fixtures in the published access information.
Accessibility
The Picnic Enclosure is exclusively grass, so routes may be harder for some wheelchairs and mobility scooters than the tarmac Grandstand. The racecourse lists an accessible toilet beside the public toilet block when Picnic is open. Blue Badge holders must still buy a Picnic Car Pass if they want to drive into the enclosure; accessible parking close to the Grandstand is a separate option. A wheelchair-accessible shuttle runs to the course. Contact 01738 551597 or info@perth-races.co.uk to discuss the grass route and where you can watch; an Essential Companion enters free when arranged with the office alongside a paying guest with access needs.
Children and families
The Picnic Enclosure is described by Perth as its family area. The 2026 Family Raceday advertised under-18s go free, but the racecourse has not published a general child price for every fixture or the 2027 season. Each child still needs the correct ticket for the meeting. Family activities are fixture-specific; the 2026 Family Raceday listed inflatables, football activities, a cycle track and therapy ponies, not a year-round promise.
Tips
- Buy the Picnic admission online before travel; Perth says it is not sold at the gate.
- If you want to drive into the enclosure, add a Car Pass as well as an admission ticket for each person.
- Take food and soft drinks in a cool bag, but leave alcohol, glass and barbecue equipment at home.
- This is an all-grass outdoor area, so bring waterproof layers and shoes with grip, especially after rain.
Upgrading
For a reserved, covered group base on Ladies Day, Perth sold Grazing on the Green in 2026 for £420 per table of six, with food and drink vouchers and after-party access. It is a distinct package and not included in a standard Picnic ticket.
