Sarum Enclosure at Salisbury
Sarum is the lower-priced enclosure on the far side of the racecourse, with its own stand, bar, catering units and picnic tables. It has a close-up view of the action but does not include Parade Ring access; it is the only area where racegoers may bring their own picnic.

Who it suits
- Visitors who want the published lowest adult starting price for a non-music raceday.
- Groups who would rather bring their own food and use the picnic tables than buy a full catering meal.
- Racegoers who prefer a close-up view from the opposite side of the track and do not need the Parade Ring.
Ticket prices
| Raceday type | Published starting price |
|---|---|
| Non-music racedayTicket guide states a starting rate; does not say advance or on the day | From £12 |
The Salisbury ticket page lists Sarum from £12 per person on racedays without music. It does not identify whether this is an online advance or on-the-day rate, and gives no separate 2026 gate amount.
Where your ticket takes you
- The Sarum Stand, lawn and public facilities on the far side of the track.
- Sarum Bar beneath the stand’s terracing and mobile catering units.
- Picnic tables and the only public enclosure where visitors may bring their own picnic.
- Betting facilities within the enclosure; the public Sarum ticket does not include Parade Ring access.
Not included
- The Parade Ring, which the racecourse ticket page explicitly excludes from Sarum admission.
- Bibury’s premium lawn and bars, or Grandstand & Paddock facilities on the opposite side.
The view
The Sarum Enclosure is across the track from the central Grandstand & Paddock area. Its stand is positioned for a close view of racing, and the open area around it has picnic tables. You can watch the action from the Sarum side, but the ticket page says you cannot enter the Parade Ring from this ticket. The two large course screens help follow races from this side.
Food and drink
Sarum has a bar and catering units, but the racecourse calls this its picnic enclosure for a reason: it is the only public area where you may bring your own food.
Sarum Bar
A fully stocked bar beneath the Sarum Stand terracing, serving draught beer and drinks.
Mobile catering units
Stalls vary with the meeting but the racecourse says a typical line-up includes a burger van with hot drinks, an ice-cream van and a sweet stall.
Bring a picnic
Sarum is the only enclosure where racegoers may bring their own food. Outside alcohol is prohibited; no gazebos, parasols or tents may be set up.
Facilities
Sarum Stand
A dedicated stand gives a close-up view from the far side of the course.
Picnic tables
Tables are available by the lawn and catering units. Bring food if you prefer, but do not bring alcohol.
Betting
The racecourse lists betting facilities in Sarum. Betting is optional; you can enjoy the racing without placing a wager.
Toilets
An accessible toilet is in the brick building near the Sarum Stand, alongside other on-course toilet facilities.
Dress code
Salisbury has no formal dress code and asks visitors to dress for comfort. The racecourse does not allow football sportswear or offensive fancy dress; smarter clothing is common on feature days but is not compulsory. Sarum is an outdoor, picnic-focused area, so comfortable shoes, a waterproof layer and clothing for wind or sun are practical.
Getting in
Follow the Sarum entrance shown on your ticket and the route given by car-park stewards; the online course map does not assign numbered public gates by enclosure. The 2026 Season Finale opened its gates at midday, but each fixture publishes its own time. Security may search bags at the racecourse entrance, and a maximum bag size is not published. Picnics are allowed here on any race day, but outside alcohol, barbecues, glassware, gazebos, parasols and tents are not permitted.
Accessibility
Sarum has an uncovered wheelchair viewing ramp and an accessible toilet in the brick building near the Sarum Stand. Unlike Bibury and Grandstand & Paddock, the racecourse accessibility page does not list lift access from Sarum to the Wiltshire Stand roof terrace. Accessible parking is limited to ten spaces on grass in Car Park 2; attendants may try to park visitors nearer in other lots. To arrange free personal-assistant entry, email emma@salisburyracecourse.co.uk before raceday with the ticket order number and evidence of DLA, AA, PIP, AFIP or registered-blind status. A Blue Badge alone does not qualify, and the course has no wheelchairs to lend.
Children and families
Accompanied children aged 17 and under enter free. The published 2026 Season Finale page confirms free entry; children’s facilities vary by meeting, and that finale did not have additional children’s entertainment. The £12 Sarum rate is an adult starting price, not a child charge. Families can bring their own picnic into Sarum, subject to the no-alcohol and no-barbecue rules.
Tips
- If you want a picnic, choose Sarum: the racecourse only permits outside food in this enclosure, not in the Grandstand or Bibury areas.
- Pack food in a way that is easy to carry through a possible bag search; alcohol is not allowed.
- Do not bring a barbecue, glass drinkware, gazebo, parasol or tent; the course lists each as prohibited in the picnic enclosure.
- Plan to watch from the Sarum side or use the screens; this ticket does not let you visit the Parade Ring.
Upgrading
For Parade Ring access and more central bars, choose Grandstand & Paddock. Bibury is the premium ticket, with Bibury Lawn beside the winning post and broader bar access.
