Getting to Salisbury

The racecourse is at Netherhampton, west of Salisbury city centre. Salisbury railway station is the rail gateway; the venue is outside walking distance for most visitors.

Train and racecourse bus

Salisbury station; complimentary on racedays

The racecourse books a Wheelers bus from the station on each fixture. The departure times are set separately for each meeting; the 2026 season-finale page said further details would follow, so these transfers should not be treated as a fixed scheduled bus.

By car

Free parking

All racecourse car parks are free. Follow the course’s directions for the approach roads and then the car-park stewards’ instructions.

Taxi

From Salisbury station or the city

A taxi is the direct alternative if the fixture’s courtesy-bus times do not fit a train connection. The racecourse is in Netherhampton, west of the city centre.

Things to do while you are here

The city and its surrounding plain make an easy weekend from the racecourse: medieval streets, a major cathedral, archaeology and a UNESCO World Heritage landscape are all within reach.

Salisbury Cathedral and Close

The cathedral’s 123-metre spire is Britain’s tallest. Visitors can see one of the best-preserved original 1215 Magna Carta copies, the medieval clock and the large Cathedral Close.

Salisbury Museum

In the King’s House opposite the cathedral’s west front, its Wessex Gallery interprets archaeology from Stonehenge and the surrounding region. The museum’s published standard adult admission is £9 and child admission £4.50; these prices were checked on 3 October 2026.

Stonehenge

The prehistoric monument lies on Salisbury Plain, north of the city. Salisbury is a convenient base for pairing a visit with the museum’s archaeology displays.

Wilton House

Three miles west of Salisbury, the Pembroke family house has state rooms, art and gardens; its public season is generally April to September.

On the day

Salisbury publishes fixture-specific gate and race times; for example, its 2026 finale had a midday opening. The facts below are standing visitor information, while next season’s timetable is still to come.

Salisbury Racecourse event pages and racegoers guide, checked 3 October 2026. The published 2026 finale page gives fixture-specific opening and race times; the 2027 fixture list currently gives dates only.

Picnics and food

Visitors may bring their own food, without alcohol, into the Sarum Enclosure. Food and drink outlets also serve each enclosure.

Dogs

Dogs are not allowed on race days; assistance dogs are welcome with the relevant paperwork.

Children

Accompanied children aged 17 and under enter free. Some fixtures add entertainment; the 2026 season finale page said no extra children’s facilities were planned for that meeting.

Betting is optional

You don’t need to bet to enjoy the day. If you do, you must be 18 or over; set a limit before you arrive.

Families and groups

Children aged 17 and under enter Salisbury’s race meetings free when accompanied by an adult. The family provision changes by fixture.

Family fixtures

The August 2026 Summer Holiday Racing meeting included free children’s entertainment in the Sarum Enclosure, including Cups & Saucers and Chair-o-Planes. The season-finale page explicitly said that fixture had no extra children’s facilities.
