The view

The covered grandstand looks across the final fence and finishing stretch. The official spectator guide also lists views opposite the finishing line, covered grandstand, food, bars, betting and accessible facilities for both Premier and Grandstand. Parade Ring access means you can see runners before racing, while the main betting ring gives a central point for placing a bet or meeting your group.

Food and drink arrangements depend on the ticket and the fixture; these are the named facilities published by Wincanton.

Badger Café

The Grandstand Enclosure page names the Badger Café for hot food, sandwiches, baguettes and soup.

Mobile catering

The enclosure page lists mobile food units, including burgers and chips.

Bars

The Grandstand has bars; drinks and food are purchased separately from admission.

Betting ring

The main betting ring is in the Grandstand Enclosure; Tote and bookmakers operate.

Seating and shelter

The spectator guide lists a covered grandstand. Most viewing is outdoors, so bring layers.

Wi-Fi and toilets

Free Wi-Fi and accessible toilets are listed across Wincanton public areas.

Dress code

Relaxed; dress to feel your best Wincanton’s published guidance is to dress to feel your best. There is no requirement for formal racewear; avoid team kits and offensive fancy dress. Most of the day is outdoors, so comfortable shoes, a warm layer and a waterproof are useful in Somerset weather.

Getting in

Main public entrance; time varies by fixture Advance tickets are emailed and can be shown on a phone or printed. Walk-up tickets are offered for fixtures that have not sold out unless that fixture says otherwise; on-the-day payment is card only. Wincanton does not publish a single all-season gate opening time or a general bag-size rule on its visitor pages, so this guide gives the confirmed event-specific details rather than guessing.

Accessibility

Wincanton lists accessible facilities across its public enclosures, including accessible toilets, accessible catering and marked viewing areas. The Premier has an elevated viewing platform overlooking the winning post and reserved wheelchair space in the Hatherleigh viewing area; the Grandstand has a raised outdoor viewing area. Accessible parking is available close to the entrance gates, though spaces are limited on Boxing Day. One complimentary personal assistant ticket is available where needed; call 01963 435840 on the same day as buying the racegoer’s ticket to guarantee availability. Hospitality restaurants and boxes have lift access. Contact Wincanton before booking if you need a particular space or route.

Children and families

Under-18s are free at most fixtures if added to an adult booking. Some high-demand fixtures have paid child tickets and availability can be limited. A responsible adult aged 21 or over, or the child’s parent, must accompany under-18s; the limit is three under-18s per adult. Add a child ticket to the booking even where it is free.
