- Families and groups who want a table for a picnic instead of eating outside.
- Visitors who like a warm indoor base with views up the home run and screens showing racing.
- Racegoers with an existing admission ticket or annual membership who want to add a room-only booking.

Where your ticket takes you
- A reserved table in the track-side Lancaster Room at the Gallow Sports Centre for the race day.
- A Grandstand & Paddock ticket when the £41.50 adult option is selected; a room-only ticket does not include admission.
- A bar, screens showing live racing and betting facilities when the room is busy.
- A view up the home run toward the finish, although the finish line itself cannot be seen from this position.
Not included
- Food or a racecard. Bring your own picnic or buy food from mobile caterers; racecards cost £4 at the hut.
- Racecourse admission in the £23 room-only option unless you already have a ticket or annual membership.
- A view of the finish line itself; the room looks up the run but the line is out of sight.
The view
The Lancaster Room sits at the open ditch corner of the track and has large windows on two sides. It looks up the home run towards the finish but not directly at the finish line. Television screens show the live racing, while the bar and table provide a sheltered base. If you want to see the Parade Ring or finish more closely, the Grandstand & Paddock badge option lets you use those public areas too.
Food and drink
This is a picnic-friendly room rather than a catered meal package.
Bring your own picnic
The racecourse allows guests to bring food into the Lancaster Room. Its general picnic rules apply elsewhere: eat in designated outdoor areas and do not bring alcohol onto the course.
Mobile caterers
You can buy food from the racecourse’s mobile vendors and take it to your table. Options on the course include hot snacks, burgers, seafood, Thai food, fish and chips and coffee.
Lancaster Room bar
Hot and cold drinks are sold at the room’s bar. Racing is also shown on television screens.
Facilities
Reserved table
The booking gives you the same table throughout the day and allows you to come and go.
Opening times
The room opens 90 minutes before the first race and closes 30 minutes after the last.
Racecards and betting
Racecards are not included and can be bought for £4 at the hut. Betting facilities are available in the room when it is busy.
Dress code
Fakenham has no formal racegoer dress code and advises visitors to wear clothes suited to the weather. The Lancaster Room is an indoor picnic space, but you will walk outside to the track and catering stalls. Wear comfortable shoes and bring a coat. Football tops are not part of the course’s permitted dress guidance.
Getting in
Use the Gallows Sports Centre entrance, postcode NR21 7NY, which the racecourse recommends for Lancaster Room bookings and centre-of-course parking. E-tickets must be ready to scan at the relevant gate, and staff ask drivers to show tickets while still in the car. The table is yours for the day, from 90 minutes before the first race to 30 minutes after the last. Online ticket sales close at 8am on race morning.
Accessibility
The racecourse provides accessible parking and viewing, and says its buildings have disabled access and facilities. It does not describe the exact approach or door widths for the Lancaster Room, so contact the office about the route before booking. A qualifying visitor can arrange a complimentary personal assistant ticket with evidence and a matching admission purchase; the free assistant ticket must be requested in advance and is not supplied at the gate.
Children and families
The Lancaster Room lists £12 for a child booking; children 17 and under still receive free racecourse admission with a responsible adult. The adult room rate is £23 if admission is already held or £41.50 when an adult Grandstand & Paddock badge is included. Confirm whether the £12 child room booking is needed for the child to use a table and whether the adult booking includes the right admission ticket.
Tips
- Choose room-only at £23 only if each adult already has admission or annual membership; £41.50 includes a Grandstand & Paddock badge.
- Bring a picnic or budget for mobile food vendors, because no meal is included.
- The view is up the home run, not of the finish line itself; use the included public areas to watch from elsewhere.
- Keep £4 available for a racecard if you want one; it is not part of the booking.
