Who it suits
- Racegoers who prefer a quieter room and shared dining to a track-facing table.
- Groups who want somewhere indoors to sit between races, with food included and the public track area nearby.
- Visitors for whom a view from the room is not essential because the grandstand and track are a short walk away.
Ticket prices
| Fixture | Per person |
|---|---|
| Scottish Borders National Day6 December 2026 | £115 |
Kelso’s official booking page listed £115 per person for 6 December 2026. Hospitality must be booked in advance, subject to availability; prices can vary by fixture.
Where your ticket takes you
- The shared Hamilton Room behind the Younger Stand, with hospitality admission and a table for the afternoon.
- The public enclosure, including the Parade Ring and Winners Enclosure, through the race admission included in the package.
- Track viewing outside the room: Kelso describes the grandstand and track as about a one-minute walk away.
- The public bars, Tote betting and racecourse viewing areas are accessible as part of the hospitality ticket.
Not included
- A direct view of the track from the room; Kelso explicitly says the Hamilton Room has no track view.
- A private box: Hamilton is a shared casual dining package and currently accommodates up to 32 guests.
The view
The Hamilton Room is behind the Younger Stand and does not have a direct track view. Kelso says the track is a short walk away, around one minute, so plan to leave the room to watch from the grandstand or public areas. CCTV shows the races inside, which is useful for following a contest during lunch or if you want to stay seated. The room’s ground-level location makes it distinct from the first-floor Platinum room, but the racecourse does not describe a particular outside sightline from its door.
Food and drink
Hamilton is the casual dining option, with a two-course lunch followed by afternoon tea.
Hamilton lunch
The package includes two courses—lunch and dessert—plus afternoon tea. Kelso describes it as shared casual dining in relaxed surroundings.
Tweedie Stand ground-floor bar
A self-service counter offers snacks and drinks without booking a table. It is in the Tweedie Stand rather than the Hamilton Room.
Rosie’s Bistro
The marquee by the Parade Ring serves a carvery. Its tables are used by different customers at different times, so this is separate from the reserved hospitality table in the Hamilton package.
Facilities
Ground-floor room
The Hamilton Rooms are located at ground level behind Younger Stand. Kelso lists CCTV coverage, a cash bar, pre-race tipster and a racecard with the package.
Tote betting nearby
The booking information says Tote betting is a few yards from the door. The public track and grandstand are about a one-minute walk away.
Accessible toilets
Kelso provides permanent accessible toilets on the ground floor of Younger Grandstand and both floors of Tweedie Grandstand. Ask the office for the route from the room.
Dress code
Kelso does not impose a general dress code, but corporate hospitality guests are requested to dress smart casual. The Hamilton Room is a relaxed shared dining option, so formal wear is not needed. Comfortable shoes are useful for the short walk between the room and the track; a waterproof layer is sensible for viewing outside in Kelso’s changeable weather.
Getting in
Use the main entrance to Kelso Racecourse, one mile north of town, and bring your hospitality ticket. On Family Fun Raceday, 4 October 2026, published gates open at 11:30am with the first race at 1:45pm; fixture schedules differ. Kelso’s terms prohibit knives, fireworks, air horns, cans and glassware in public enclosures. The hospitality page does not publish a bag-size rule. Scan out if you exit during racing and want to come back in.
Accessibility
Kelso states that the Hamilton Rooms are at ground level, while Younger and John Carr grandstands are reached by steps. Permanent accessible toilets are in the ground floor of Younger Stand and on both floors of Tweedie Grandstand. The general access page does not describe the precise route into the room or any personal-assistant ticket policy; contact the office at 01573 221221 or info@kelso-races.co.uk to plan a visit. Blue Badge parking is available near the main entrance, subject to space.
Children and families
Kelso admits accompanied children aged 17 and under free to its public enclosure. The Hamilton hospitality package is priced per guest and includes a meal, but Kelso does not publish a reduced child rate for the room. Confirm whether a child needs a full hospitality place for the meal and seat. Under-18s must be accompanied by an adult; children under 12 cannot enter the Parade Ring or Winners Enclosure during racing unless the safety officer permits it.
Tips
- The published £115 per-person example is for Scottish Borders National Day on 6 December 2026; hospitality prices are tied to the fixture.
- The Hamilton Room has no direct track view, so plan to leave the room to watch the race from the grandstand or a trackside area.
- Tote betting is described as a few yards from the room, and the package includes CCTV for watching races while seated.
- Ask how a child’s lunch is charged; free public admission does not automatically mean a free hospitality meal.
