Feature-day add-on
Picnic Car Park at Market Rasen
The Picnic Car Park is a separate feature-day parking area that lets visitors watch from their own car. It is not a replacement for admission: Market Rasen says each person also needs an event ticket, and the car space currently costs £10 by card.

Who it suits
- Visitors who want a car-space with a view of racing and prefer to picnic from their own vehicle.
- Families or groups bringing a light picnic on one of the published feature days.
- Drivers who are comfortable paying a separate parking charge as well as buying one admission ticket per person.
Ticket prices
| Charge | Price | Payment |
|---|---|---|
| One car on a feature dayParking ticket, charged per car | £10 | Card only |
| Race admissionRequired separately for each visitor | Fixture-specific | Fixture-specific |
The official directions page currently lists £10 per car and card-only payment. Each person must also have an admission ticket; public ticket prices vary by fixture.
Where your ticket takes you
- A parking space in the Picnic Car Park on eligible feature dates; the official list includes Easter, Family Day, Ladies Day, Music, Beer, Boots & Bridles and Boxing Day.
- The racecourse says visitors can watch from the comfort of their own car.
- Each person in the car still needs their own race admission ticket; the parking ticket alone does not admit people to the course.
- The car park is accessed from Legsby Road only, after the entrance to the caravan park.
Not included
- Admission for the people in the vehicle; each person needs a separate event ticket.
- A picnic allowance for ordinary fixtures: the car park opens only on feature days.
- Alcohol, glass or metal picnic containers; the FAQ bans these from picnics.
The view
This is a parking add-on, not a stand, lawn or substitute for an enclosure badge. The Jockey Club says it lets visitors watch the racing from their own car. The location is entered from Legsby Road after the caravan-park entrance; the public page does not provide a numbered pitch map or guarantee a specific sightline from each space. Follow the on-site car-park signs and marshals, and buy admission tickets separately for everyone who will attend the races.
Food and drink
A light picnic is allowed in the picnic car parks, subject to the racecourse’s food and drink policy.
Light picnic
Market Rasen’s FAQ allows light picnics in picnic car parks. It says they must not include glass, metal or alcohol.
On-course food stalls
Food and drink stalls across the site sell hot and cold food and soft drinks; bars and food outlets accept card payments only.
Alcohol
The racecourse asks visitors not to bring alcohol onto the course; its internal bars sell alcoholic drinks at meetings.
Facilities
Car-based viewing
The feature-day Picnic Car Park is designed for watching racing from your vehicle.
Separate admission
The car-space does not cover people’s admission; buy a ticket for each person attending.
Card payment
The £10 car-park charge is card only according to the directions page.
Feature-day access
The parking area is only open on the listed feature days, rather than at every meeting.
Dress code
There is no dress code for the car park. Wear comfortable clothes for the weather, as you may walk to the public enclosures and stand outside to watch. The car-park ticket is for parking only; it does not replace an admission ticket or give access to a reserved indoor hospitality room.
Getting in
Enter from Legsby Road only, after the caravan park entrance. The directions page says the car park opens only on feature days, charges £10 per car and accepts cards only. Expect traffic delays on busier meetings and follow the racecourse signs. The page does not state a bag-size limit or give a separate opening time; the event ticket page supplies the day’s gate and race times. Every occupant needs their own admission ticket.
Accessibility
The public accessibility page describes free Blue Badge parking near the main entrances and says the grounds are mostly flat with gradual declines, but it does not specify Blue Badge spaces, firm paths or step-free routes inside the Picnic Car Park. The general policy offers one complimentary personal-assistant ticket with valid admission and evidence of eligibility. Call 01673 843434 before choosing this parking option if you need a particular space or accessible route; the course does not publish those car-park details.
Children and families
The car-park fee is per vehicle, not a child ticket. Each person attending still needs an admission ticket. Under-18s are free at most fixtures when accompanied, but ticket availability can be limited at high-demand meetings and some fixtures require paid child admission. Under-18s must attend with a parent or responsible adult aged 21 or over; one adult can accompany no more than three under-18s, and children aged 15 or younger must remain with them throughout.
Tips
- Buy the £10 parking ticket and the correct event admission for every person; the two charges are separate.
- Use Legsby Road only and look for the car-park turn after the caravan-park entrance.
- Bring a light picnic without glass, metal or alcohol. Market Rasen does not allow outside alcohol.
- Arrive early on a feature day: the racecourse warns that traffic volumes can delay access.
Upgrading
The car park itself does not upgrade an admission ticket. A County ticket gives access to all three enclosures; it is a separate purchase from the £10 car space.
