Private Boxes at Hereford
Hereford advertises private first-floor boxes for selected fixtures. Each is a separate suite with its own viewing balcony, a dedicated host and buffet, and admission to the public parts of the course. The boxes are distinct from Snaffles restaurant tables.

Where your ticket takes you
- The full public enclosure, including the grandstand public areas, pre-parade ring and Parade Ring.
- Public viewing around the home straight, finishing line and winners enclosure.
- Public bars, food outlets and betting points across the grounds; the ticket does not reserve an indoor seat.
Not included
- A private box is hospitality, not a standalone public enclosure; ordinary public admission remains included in the box booking.
- Wheelchair access to the private boxes is not available according to the current accessibility page.
The view
Elevated private balconies look across the course and finishing straight, with a view towards Hereford city.. The racecourse is a single public enclosure: admission packages do not divide visitors into separate grounds, and public ticket holders can move between the marked viewing areas. Use the map to locate the Parade Ring before racing and the grandstand steps for the finishing straight.
Food and drink
A buffet and a dedicated host are included in the racecourse’s description. The venue does not publish a standard menu for every date.
Private-box buffet
The racecourse describes a buffet served in a private suite, with a dedicated host. It does not publish a fixed menu or dietary menu on the general hospitality page.
Public catering
A box ticket includes access to the public areas; the map also marks Hummingbird Bar and Piglets Pantry Pies & Coffee Shop for additional purchases.
Private suite
Each box has its own balcony. A separate hospitality ticket is required; it is not part of ordinary admission.
Facilities
Betting
Britbet pool betting windows and on-course bookmakers are available. The racecourse is cashless for bars and food outlets, while bookmakers and Britbet accept cash for bets.
Toilets and facilities
The official course map marks toilets, first aid, betting points and public bars. A digital copy can be downloaded for use without Wi-Fi.
Seating
There is limited public seating, much of it outdoors. The FAQ says reserved seating is included with restaurant and hospitality bookings.
Dress code
The public dress code is relaxed; the racecourse recommends a smarter look in private hospitality and encourages men to wear a shirt and tie. Choose warm, weatherproof layers for the jump season. Sporting team shirts and offensive fancy dress are prohibited.
Getting in
Use the main entrance on Roman Road, then follow the event directions to the hospitality boxes. Hereford identifies these as first-floor rooms; exact gate times vary by fixture and are posted on each event page. The official map shows the boxes and facilities. Do not bring outside food or drink, glass bottles or drinking glasses.
Accessibility
The racecourse’s accessibility page currently says wheelchair users cannot access private boxes. Its map locates the boxes on the first floor; the 2025 accessibility guide describes a separate covered accessible platform at ground level in Rusty Bridge. For free personal assistant entry, a disabled guest must hold a full-price ticket and provide accepted proof; contact the racecourse at least 24 hours in advance. A private box is therefore not a step-free alternative to the public platform.
Children and families
Hereford admits under-18s free with a paying adult in the public enclosure, but the racecourse does not publish a box-specific child price, buffet arrangement or occupancy rule. Hospitality enquiries can arrange U18 tickets through the sales team on 01432 273560.
Tips
- Download the course map before travelling; it labels the entrance, viewing steps, Parade Ring, food outlets, toilets and betting points.
- Bring a card or contactless payment for food and drink. There are no cash machines; betting outlets are the exception to the cashless rule.
- Plan to arrive around the advertised gate opening. Gates usually open about two hours before the first race, and event pages publish exact fixture times.
- The public course has lawn and tarmac. The 2025 accessibility guide describes a step-free route around facilities that avoids crossing grass.
